Warm Forging And Isothermal Forging
Jul 02, 2018

Warm forging

The forging pressure above normal temperature but not above recrystallization temperature is called warm forging pressure. The metal is heated in advance at a much lower temperature than the hot forging pressure. The precision of warm forging pressure is high, the surface is smooth and the deformation resistance is small.

Isothermal forging

The temperature of the blank remains constant throughout the forming process. Isothermal forging is to make full use of the high plasticity of some metals at the same temperature, or to obtain specific structure and properties. Isothermal forging requires constant temperature of the mould and the blank, which requires high cost. It is only used for special forging process, such as superforming.
